Wink windows resume loader stuck
I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 Laptop with Vista Windows. About 2 weeks ago, I drop a small amount of Coke on the keyboard and a couple of keys stuck but could still use them. Then, one day the Windows Resume Loader stuck on me. After removing the keyboard, I decided to order a new one because the "Enter" key would not work. I thought it was because of the Coke causing it to stick. Now, after installing the new keyboard, the "Enter" key does not work and it remains on the Windows Resume Loader screen. I have removed the harddrive and battery to try and reset. Does anyone know how I can get back on my new laptop that my kids bought me. I am using a old slow one now.

Hello & Welcome to TG Forum.

Which Vista, 32 or 64 bit, & which service pack?

Do you receive options to delete the system data or to proceed?

Which brand, model & model # computer? Some lappies have keyboard shortcuts / combinations.

Do you have a Windows Vista operating system DVD?

Do you have an external keyboard [ the keyboard type that connects to a desktop computer ] with a USB connector? If so, connect it to the lappy.

A nice explanation of the loader, here.

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, I do not know which Vista or Service Pack. My kids gave to me this past summer and I have kept the Windows updated. It gives me the following options but of course, I can not get the keyboard to click on "Enter" --here is the choices:

Continue with system resume
Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1521 with Windows Vista and AMD 64 Athlon X2

I do not have the CD's.. I don't know if it was a rebuild or what.

I have my old keyboard from my HP but it has a different connection. Is there a connector that I can get to make it convert?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!

I tried the external keyboard and was able to access my computer. However, when I went back to the laptop keyboard some of the keys do not work. Do I need to reprogram something?

Perhaps.

Verify that your num lock key is off. Verify that your FN [ function ] key is off.

Does your keyboard have a program and / or driver installation disk or downloadable program?

Does your integrated keyboard function, in good or faulty condition, with the external keyboard attached?

start > control panel > classic view
region & language
Keyboard tab
Be sure that the proper keyboard is selected.

You might want to click "report" and ask the moderator to move this thread to he hardware forum.
