vista won't run program
So I may mention this more then once but I hate vista and all that goes with it. Anyway my laptop crashed, blue screened, and then lost bos manger. I could not recover anything but thank good I have a back up disk from a few months ago so I figured I would only lose a small amount of information in this cluster F. So for some reason vista will not run my cd. So what do I have to do to trouble shoot this??? I type run then enter, try to use this D:\setup.exe, and get this windows can't find D:\setup.exe did you type it right.

click start > control panel > system > on the left hand side click device manager > find cd/dvd rom drives and click the plus sign.are there any yellow question marks? if so you need to update your drivers.

What is on this CD? How did you create it? Does the file setup.exe exist on it?
"Bos" manager?
Have you tried re-installing Vista?
Vista is a fine OS if you take the time to adjust to it.

It is a back up of all my files from march. I had to back them up then when I reinstall vista so I made a back up copy. Bos manager should be boot manager sorry it was late last night when I typed this. I was told to run it under that but I'm not a computer wizard so it could be wrong. Yes my cd driver is present and accounted for so how should I proceed?

If it's just a copy, all you need to do is open the disk in Explorer to see if the files are there.
If so, just reinstall Vista, then copy them back to the drive.Backups are special files, which is why I asked how you created it.

When I go to the tab, "Check for signatures on downloaded programs" is checked.

The error simply shows up when chrome tries to autorun from its site.

Using internet explorer, can't install any other browser.

Edit: Unchecked the "Check for signatures on downloaded programs" tab, still same error in chrome.
Even when saving the setup to disc and running from there. I am on the administrator account.
