BSOD During startup in Safe Mode..
Hi there, this is my first time posting on these Forums and I'm not even sure if this is the right place to post this problem but about two days ago there was a thunderstorm and in fear of a power surge I told my son to go and switch off my new Acer Aspire PC. Unfortunately when he switched it off it had to install windows Updates so in a rush he just unplugged the PC from the wall while it was updating/logging off. I did not think much of this until the next day when I switched my PC on and before it got the the Login Screen I just get that wicked old Blue Screen of Death.. I restarted my PC and tried to start it up in Safe mode but strangely enough I once again had the Blue screen pop up before the Login Screen is fully loaded.. Now I am totally confused because I have no way of getting past my login screen to attempt to fix this problem. Please any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Computer Specs;
WIndows Vista
Intel Quad Proccesor Q8300
3GB DDR3
640GB Hard Drive
ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB

Also the PC is not even a week old..

No repair disc
No unfortunately I do not have such a dis, is that the only way that I can repair my PC? Also I just want to note that formatting is not an option because I have recently synced this PC with my work PC which is in another country and I am working off this one now and most of the files that are currently on it are pretty much irreplaceable.

Hughv:
Yes, that will be helpful.

But given the circumstances, using the OEM's recovery partition might be G C 's only choice. I hope I am wrong.

But, the OP said: "Also I just want to note that formatting is not an option..."

If the BSOD message doesn't help, it's easy enough to remove the drive and copy the info before reinstalling.

Right you are. However, some OEM recovery systems offer a non destructive restoration.

A UBCD [ www.ubcd4win.com ] and flash drive might also allow the OP to save her / his data. UBCD has disk burning software, but it might not be compatible with an OEM optical burner.

Please provide us with the BSOD information, which Hughv wisely requested. If you have a digital camera, photograph the screen; download the image [ s ] to the computer you are using to participate in this thread, return to this thread, use "go advanced" to the "manage attachments" section; browse to your image [ s ] and upload them.
