0x000006be and can't uninstall printer
HP Pavilion dv6000 with Vista Ultimate keeps giving me this error when I try to add a printer after restarting the spooler. When I tried to uninstall the printer, I get a message saying "Setup encountered an abnormal program execution and will shut down." Any ideas? Thanks.

Try manually removing the printer and attempting the install again

1. Hit the Windows Perl Button
2. Type Printers in the search box
3. Open Printers
3. Select the printer that you want to delete and hit the delete key
4. Hit yes to delete the printer
5. Hit ALT+F at the same time
6. Select Server Properties and click on the ports tab
7. Select the desired port and hit delete. Remove any un needed ports that are no longer used.

Do not delete the standard ports:
* Represents any number
  • LPT*:
  • COM*:
  • FILE:
  • XPSPort(If exists):
8. Click on the drivers tab and hit the remove button on all drivers no longer needed

9. Afterwards please reboot and attempt the install again

The problem is that there are no printers showing up. We have a wireless home network connected to a HP color laserjet 2600n printer. After shutting down, removing the battery, pressing the power button for 20 seconds, and replacing the battery (as per HP tech support email), the computer is saying the print spooler is not working. It shows no printers, and will not add a printer.

Did you make sure to check reset printer spooler to default values when running the utility? That should eliminate any special printer monitors that could be causing the printer spooler to crash.
