Perhaps it has something to do with your modem's settings?

i have rang aol, my isp who sent me the modem. they state there is nothing wrong with my modem.

had fun and games. i managed to restore my system to a date i remember it being safe. however as a result it stopped me accessing windows and prevented me from doing anything apart from working in safemode. i ended up undoing the restore, but not before getting a blue screen.

this is getting to me. i have looked through security and there is nothing obvious there either.

can anyone help with modem please and tell me what to look for as aol arent having any of it?

Have you recently installed Kontiki or the problem started well after that?

From Command Prompt, run the following command:

regsvr32 softpub.dll

Hit Enter.

Repeat same regsvr32 command for the following files:
  • regsvr32 wintrust.dll
  • regsvr32 initpki.dll
  • regsvr32 dssenh.dll
  • regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
  • regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
  • regsvr32 sccbase.dll
  • regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
  • regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
Also, make sure date and time are correct on your computer.

You can also try a sfc /scannow.

time and date correct. have run those commands through. all succeeded apart from 4 of them.
regsvr32 initpki.dll - the module initpki.dll failed to load. make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. the specified module could not be found.
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll - the module gpkcsp.dll failed to load. make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. the specified module could not be found.
regsvr32 sccbase.dll - the module sccbase.dll failed to load. make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. the specified module could not be found.
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll - the module slbcsp.dll failed to load. make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. the specified module could not be found.

no change.

will try the scannow thing next.

Well, I'm stumped!

I'm sorry but at this point I have nothing else to suggest. I hope you really read the fixes in the link from post #2 thoroughly. I can't think of anything else than a repair install or a reinstall.

hi phantom. thanks for all your help.

i did read them all carefully and tried them. but to no avail.

have rang up aol and gobbed off at them a bit and the techies there are ringing me back, the call handler said they might send me a new modem.

im still in the same situation. im only hoping this can be sorted as its affecting my life in a big way.

thanks for your patience.
