probs with getting onto secure sites
hi all. this is my first post on here. im a beginner with computer repair so please bear with me as im at my wits end with this.

i am using vista home premium on a fujitsu siemens laptop. since monday 16th nov, i have been unable to get onto secure sites, ie online banking, paypal, my aol broadband account. when i go on paypal, i press the log on button and nothing happens. the screen stays the same and its as if the log on button doesnt work. when i go on online banking it goes very slow. the progress bar stops half way preventing me to log on, but the rest of the site works immediately when i press it. same for the aol broadband account.

what i have done so far:-
1. deleted cache
2. deleted cookies
3. configured modem to run at a faster bandwidth.
4. done the winsock thing on command prompt
5. tried to do a system restore and that fails half way through.
6. installed a new independent browser, firefox - still the same on there
7. taken off current antivirus and tried without - still the same
8. installed a brand new antivirus trial with nortons - still the same.

its not a problem with the area as i managed to use someone else computer on the next street and there was no issues with theirs.

can anyone suggest anything else that i can do. i rely on online banking and paypal.

please please help.

thanks in advance.

Not sure if I'll see anything but it can't hurt...

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything

Then, you can at least uncheck the entry in your Startup list, using msconfig.

Reboot and try browsing again.

Have you tried resetting TCP/IP stack from the command prompt?

netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot.
