Unhappy CRC errors
Hello, my first time in this forum. I would like some help because I'm having this very big issue in my computer. Every time whenever I download a file, game, software and even my brand new game called GTA IV and I got it since yesterday, brand new and perfectly clean. No scratches at all! I inserted my GTA IV CD and I started to install the game. All of a sudden, I get this error all the time, "CNT.bik" crc error. I abort and retry, abort and retry but it's no use. Could you please help me out here?

If you need a picture of it. I'll add it ASAP!

Welcome DonutPie
Do you have WinRar or WinZip installed on your system, I have read that after uninstalling all compression software and rebooting you should now be able to fix this problem,

Really? How do I completely remove 7zip or WinRAR? Like the registry and stuff from WinRAR and 7zip. I just saw 7-zip on my Programs and Features and it wont let me uninstall it. Could you please help me?

1st set a restore point in system restore. http://filext.com/faq/set_system_restore_point.php
Then go and get Revo uninstaller here.
http://download.cnet.com/RevoUninsta...-10687649.html
And uninstall 7 Zip with Revo.
Reboot and attempt to install GTA again.
Keep trying it may take several attempts to install.
I don't have any games installed (I have a few friends that do and love 'em), so I hope this works as I have read that this worked for others.
Good Luck
Are you using XP Pro or Vista?

I'm using Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate Edition. You'll see a computer icon near my name for a full specification of my computer.

For almost two hours now, I keep on repeating the installation but everytime I get a different file error. Like weazel.wz or something like that and then I get liberty_rock.sfx error and then I get CNT.bik error and a whole bunch of different errors! Why is this happening?!?

Check and see if you have Vista SP1 installed as you need this to install the game.
If you don't have it ?

If that doesn't work you may have some corrupt files on the cd, and I have read that others have made a copy the cd to the hard drive and installed from there successfully.
All those errors you are getting suggest that your system may not support this install, so if the SP1 doesn't work - I may be out of ideas.
Sorry I couldn't help more,

What's the SP1 for?

Ahh damnit. I already got SP1 installed. Well, there has to be something wrong with my HDD/Disc Drive/Hard Drive/OS or RAM. Thanks for helping me out a bit though.

Do you have Daemon Tools Lite or any image burning apps - I have read that some have been able to install after copying disk to a folder on the hard drive.
Then opening folder and installing from there.

Have you made sure you have all the latest windows updates?
You can also try and update the latest firmware for your DVD drive?
