Here's a new one(to me)
O.k.- I am using Vista (32 bit) home basic...
I installed (or so I thought) quicktime from THE quicktime site. Now, when I went to open it, I got the ol' dreaded Windows cannot access specified device, path or file... blah blah and so on...now believe me when I say I have tried everything... and when everything couldn't open it, I decided to uninstall it, and naturally, I could not uninstall it. I did eventually use Install Clean Up and that got rid of it BUT I still need quicktime, so I downloaded it again and NOW not only does it not open(cannot access blah) but it is not to be found in add/remove programs, but IS in my program files folder on the main drive...AND I cannot get rid of it... (deleting it from the program file folder brings up the "deleting 'quicktime' will blah blah to your system...) Install Clean Up can't do it because, as I mentioned, it is not listed in add/remove programs... I gather this is some kind of permission/access issue but I am simply too burned out to understand what can be done based on my attempts and research... I simply need quicktime to render a video file that needs to be a quicktime file and I think my computer is over-worked, but I have plenty of hard drive space and perform regular virus/spyware checks (spybot and avg, which I'm happy with, but neither can do anything for this quicktime enigma) as well as defragment and do the occasional registry clean up, even though I know registry cleaning is a touchy issue... it has helped me a lot with a number of other issues in the past. I use CCleaner from time to time, and I like it, but it can't do anything for this quicktime b.s....so yeah, what now? I greatly appreciate any info anyone can provide, provided they don't tell me to "right click the exe and unblock" because, as you may have guessed, that doesn't help when there is NO "unblock" option(meaning that that is not the issue here.)
Any mind-blowing advice is welcome... I could very easily be missing something obvious... Thanks in advance!

I have had this happen lots of times as i try a lot of freeware, The first thing is to find a small freeware program such as Revo Uninstaller and all ways use this to uninstall programs, You may need to use windows search to find any left over bits from Quick time as these can be a nuisance when you try to install again, It will pay you to find another site to get your new Quick time download from, I have some times had to try three or four sites, good luck and do not give in.
