Problem Since Updating
Hey guys, glad to be here.

I'm in Windows Vista 32bit. Earlier today, my computer was rendered unable to rename, move or do anything to do with windows explorer without it crashing.

I then used Windows update about 1 hours ago, 1 "important" update. Didn't think it'd make a difference, oh boy was I wrong. One problem stopped, more emerged.

For some reason now, there are tickboxes next to folders and files in Windows Explorer. I can live with that, but it's rendered me from being able to drag and drop files to various places - which I'm not happy with. It's also stopped me from using certain softwares, like Audioshell - which worked before the update.

Is there any way to turn Windows Explorer back to how it was?

Thanks.

Use "System Restore" to restore Vista to a previous state when it was working correctly.

If you don't know how to use System Restore then this is a good time to learn. Click on Start > Help and Support and then type in System Restore in "Search Help.." The help files are very comprehensive and should provide you with all the info you need.

It is recommended that you login as the Administrator before using System Restore.

Go to the control panel then click on folder options (if your control panel isn't in "classic view" mode, click on "appearance and personalization," then on folder options). Click on the "view" tab, then UNcheck the box that says "Use check boxes to select items." Click apply, then OK.

Hope this helps!
