Question Can't access regedit, i think its the explorer.exe virus
After the laptop boots, two boxes pop up mentioning 'explorer.exe'. I think I have the explorer.exe virus. I read somewhere you should access the regedit and delete it there, but I think this virus has blocked access to the regedit. When I go to Run > regedit, I get Application error 0xc0000142 and can't access the regedit.

Does anyone out there know a good solution for this problem? I've read around today on tonnes of forums and there's a lot of conflicting information. Anything I have tried has not worked. My laptop has slowed down enormously and I'm trying to make music in Ableton. Whereas before this was easy, now the CPU is maxing out with only a few plugins, making it impossible to build up my tunes.

Any help greatly appreciated.

If you believe it's a malware problem you should report your thread (using the orange Report buttons below any post) and ask for it to be moved to the virus and other malware removal section. You should probably also post a hijack this log, as the instructions in that forum indicate.
