Hey y'all.

I have a roommate who likes Apple. He needed juice one time for his iPhone but lost his wall USB charger adapter, and asked if he could charge his iPhone on my laptop. I did not agree to let him, but now it seems that I have iPhone drivers somewhere on my computer, and this annoying thing in my AutoPlay list. I have scoured the interwebs for a solution, but I cannot find one.

How would I go about removing this from my computer? I have included a screenshot in case you were wondering if I meant the AutoPlay event handlers. I run Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

You could look in...

Start
Computer (gray panel on the right)
System Properties (blue bar near the top)
Device manager (left side)

Search that list, maybe "Portable devices" and uninstall it.

Thanks for the reply. Here's what I see in my device manager. I expanded and searched, but there was no "portable devices" in there.

In that middle list, click on the "+" in the little box to the left of each category. That will expand it to show what devices are in each one. It will place a "-" where the "+" was. When finsihed looking, click the "-" to close the item display up again. Do that for each one and you should find it in there somewhere.

In my previous reply I stated that I expanded and searched. It is not there. Nobody seems to be able to help.

Please click here to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything

Then,

Run HijackThis again.

Click on Open The Misc Tools section.

Click on Open Uninstall Manager...

Click on Save list...

Save the text file to the desktop.

Copy and paste the log (from Notepad) in your next post.

Press the Windows key + R to open a Run box.

Type in regedit

Browse to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Autop layHandlers\Handlers

Look for an Apple IPhone AutoPlay handler, right-click and delete it.

Or, try CleanHandlers

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I have navigated to this place before, per some instructions I found on another site. What they (and you maybe) think I am trying to do is remove the iPhone thing from the list that pops up when you put in a DVD or flash drive. I am going to include a screenshot to show you what I mean. This does not affect my computer in any way, really. I just hate all Apple products, Steve Jobs, and my roommate now, since there's this stupid thing in my AutoPlay list.

I assure you that I have not chosen what to do for the vast majority of these things. I do not even own anything Iomega/Rio/Compaq, or allowed them to be plugged into my precious.

How sure are we that this problem will be solved by changing the registry?

If still no luck,

Open regedit, press F3 and type in Apple IPhone, and press Enter.

Press F3 again until you find each registry entry for Apple IPhone.

You are good. I searched and searched and most of it was random crap. The first gentleman to respond to me was on the right track, methinks. I will show you where I found it. It was under "portable devices" but it was in the registry, not the device manager. Thank you so much.
