The AVG free alerted me of a major threat to computer. Adware Generic4.ANCZ
I ran scan and tried removing. Would not go away. Could someone please walk me through Hijack this log and look at it so we can get this mess cleaned up? I am a beginner so explain please......truecrimeAlso ran Superantispyware and Malwarebytes. Did not pick the adaware generic4 up. I did uninstall a file that looked odd queryexplorer (3) entries. I uninstalled it in the control panel. It got put on the computer Sept. 3, 2010 and I don't even remember it, so I uninstalled it.
I may have jumped the gun. The adaware generic4.ANCZ has not popped up through my antivirus AVG in over 1/2 hour. When I told AVG to show me the file that was infected and it showed me the queryexplorer (3) files that I uninstalled, the AVG pop up has stopped. I will run another antivirus scan and hop this has been solved. I will mark solved for now. thank you.......

Ent: When I could not get AVG to remove the malware, the AVG ask me if I would like to see the file? I clicked show me the file and (3) files opened showing an install date of Sept. 3. I did not recall installing anything lately on my computer so I just deleted all three files. I also checked my control panel and noticed one entry of queryexplorer and uninstalled it. I then did a shut down, start up on the compter. Proceeded to run the following scans on the computer after shut down, start up. SUPER Antispyware - Malwarebytes' - AVG free. The (3) files had the word queryexplorer associated with them. I have had no problems since. Do you have any further suggestions or anything further I need to do?

If still concerned about the infection then you would have to ask for the thread to be moved to the malware removal forum for assistance by the trained antimalware volunteers (who have gold shields beside their names).

If however you believe that you are now clean then all's well and there is nothing further to do.
