Exclamation Solved: Vista Start up Error message
On my startup, (windows vista) I get this message:

Error loading:

C:\users\tom\app Data\roaming\micros~1\windows\startm~\programs\startup\scanTD~1.DLL

Then underneath, it says “ A specified module could not be found”

I can x out of this message and all is well, but irritating message. I just want to find a way to get rid of this!

whatever you can do to help would be great!

Do you have some type of scanner software installed on your computer? Or, did you uninstall one recently?

You did have Norton Internet Security at one time on that computer. It's still showing in your Scheduled Tasks.

Run Autoruns again.

Select the Scheduled Tasks tab.

Right-click on \Norton Internet Security - Run Full System Scan - Tom.

Click on Delete.

You may need to disable the UAC first.

Reboot.

Run Autoruns again to check if the entry is gone.

If it's still there,

Click Start > Programs > Accessories > right-click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt: cd %windir%\Tasks

Press Enter.

Type dir.

Press Enter.

Find the offending .job file. Now delete it (type del xxxx.job).

If no luck, download and run the Norton Removal Tool.
