Windows Update
Im having trouble reading the print on my screen. After recieving windows update everything is about 50% smaller than it was before. I have a Dell Ins. 530 running Vista. I cant figure out how to resolve the situation. This is the first of several problems. Any suggestions?

Try changing the resolution of the screen.

Right-click the Desktop

Click Personalize

Click Display Settings

Then using the slider, adjust the resolution to what you're most comfortable with. (Positioning the slider all the way to the right will provide the native resolution for your monitor. This is what I recommend using, but text and images may appear smaller than in other resolutions.)

Thanks TheShooter93's

This fixed my problem. So simple. Its hard to remember however after never changeing the settings for years.

My other problem(s) will not be as easy a fix I'm afraid. Bear with me for a second.

I'm using IE7 without much trouble but I gave into the temtation of downloading another browser that claims to be faster with a new feel etc. They advertise on this site as a matter of fact. After downloading the new browser, I tried it out. It worked fine at first but then my computer starting locking up on me. I uninstalled the program, I have McKaffee so I check to see if I had downloaded a virus or something but no. I did the usual system maintenance checks, disc defragmentation etc., everything seemed ok. I feared total lockup so I went to control panel and used the file backup utility there for "All Files". I then went online and downloaded the browser again, supposing it was just a fluke. The browser work for a while but did not load all of the pages I tried and eventually started causing my computer to lock up again and then my computer started locking up even when I was'nt on the net. Finally my computer would not load windows at all. I used the Windows backup disc to reload OC with success but when I went to restore my files with my backup DVD it would'nt load most of the content. I cant see as I saved anything. Any suggestions?

After all that, I'm going to need some more information:

- What's the current status of your computer? Are you running Windows as a fresh install?

- Do you have a backup for your files somewhere?

- What was the web browser you downloaded?

My computer is up and running on a fresh install. Before the crash I made a backup of my files onto DVD. I used the program in "Control Panel : System and Maintenance : Backup and Restore Center". After installing Windows, I tried to "Restore" my files from this same program but could not access most of them due to an error code. When I bypassed installing the flagged program the "Restore" utility finished running, it said that my files were restored successfully. All of the files that Id hoped to save seem to have been lost. Im new at this but Im wondering, for example, if I need to reload Kodak EasyShare from the Kodak disc and then try to reload my picture files onto my computer from my backup disc?? The web browser I downloaded was Google Chrome. Has some interesting features. Thanks again for your help. Any Ideas?
