You were lucky a Moderator or Administrator didn't close your thread for being inactive for over 6 weeks. That's why I asked you why you hadn't replied back in over 6 weeks. If you have an active thread that you won't be replying back to for an extended time, just let us know.

Anyway, let's get that bloated startup load trimmed down. Some of them don't need to auto-load and run at all, and others can be manually started as needed.

Click Start - Run, then type in MSCONFIG and then click OK - "Startup" tab.

Remove the checkmark in these startup entries:

SunJavaUpdateSched - or - jusched

StartCCC - or - CLIStart

QuickTime Task - or - QTTask

PCMAgent

CLMLServer - or - CLMLSvc

Adobe Reader Speed Launcher - or - Reader_sl

Adobe ARM

iTunesHelper

WMPNSCFG

OneNote 2007 Screen Clipper and Launcher - or - ONENOTEM

After you're done, click Apply - OK/Close - Exit Without Restart.

Click Start - Run, then type in SERVICES.MSC and then click OK.

Expand the services window so you can see the list more clearly.

Double-click on these service entries, one at a time, to open their properties window:

Application Layer Gateway Service

Ati External Event Utility

Distributed Transaction Coordinator

Google Update Service

Google Software Updater

InstallDriver Table Manager

Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider

Ulead Burning Helper

Virtual Disk Service

Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

If "Startup Type" is set on Automatic, change it to Manual, then click Apply - OK.

If "Startup Type" is already set on Manual, close the properties window for that entry.

After you're done, close the services window and then restart the computer.

After it completely settles down, start HiJackThis and click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

Save the new log that appears, then submit it here.

Your new HiJackThis log doesn't show any reduction in the startup load, so I don't know if you had a problem with following my instructions or if the new log doesn't reflect the changes.

Go into Control Panel - User Accounts, then turn off the User Account Control(UAC) feature, then apply the change, then restart the computer.

Once that's done, start HiJackThis and run a new scan, then save the new log, then submit it here.

Go back to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab.

Write down only the names in the "Startup Item" column that have a checkmark.

If the column isn't wide enough to see the entire name of any of them, widen it.

Submit those names here in a vertical list.

Make sure to spell them EXACTLY as you see them there.

(I see at least 7 of them that can be unchecked)

Go back into the services list, then set the startup type of

Windows Defender

to Manual, then click Apply - OK.

Next, go back into the startup list, then uncheck

Windows Defender

Catalyst Control Center

QuickTime

Cyberlink PowerCinema

Java(TM) Platform SE Auto Updater 2.0

iTunes

Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Reader And Acrobat Manager

Microsoft Office OneNote

then click Apply - OK/Close - Restart.

Run the computer for awhile and see how it's running now.

Click Start - Run, then type in these 6 characters

%temp%

then click OK.

Once this temp folder appears and you can view its contents, select and delete EVERYTHING that's inside it.

If a few files resist being deleted, that's normal behavior. Leave them alone and delete EVERYTHING else.

It's all junk and is a good place for "nasties" to hide.

After you're done, restart the computer.

It can be difficult or impossible to diagnose why a computer runs slow without having a "hands on" with it.

Your best option may be to format the hard drive and do a clean reinstall of Windows.
