Computer became super slow. Sound is also slow and really distorted.

My problem started when Microsoft Security Essential couldn't finish a complete scan on my computer. It would stop in the same file every time. I used some other programs like Malwarebytes and Hijackthis to see if there was anything wrong with the computer but nothing came on. (I also scanned the file individually with MSE and it scanned it just fine).
I decided to uninstall MSE and get AVG antivirus instead. AVG does scan my computer completely (with good results) but it takes foreeeever. I think the slowness started before I uninstalled MSE, so really MSE might be completely unrelated to everything. I'm not completely sure about that, though. The biggest problem about this is that I know nothing about computers.
This computer was a gift and the main thing I use it for is for picture editing and surfing the web, which I think is a bad idea because I don't think this computer has what's needed for such spacious activities. I'm not sure, though. Like I said, the world of computers is really far away from the world I live in): I really need your help, everyone!

Hi and welcome.
Let us have the make and model number of your Pc.
An increase of Ram may make all the difference in the running of your Pc.

Also right click My Computer > Properties.
What is listed under the General Tab?
Or post a screenshot.

Also post the uninstall log from Hjt log
Start HiJackThis.
Click > Open The Misc Tools Section button.
Click > Open Uninstall Manager.
Click > Save List.
Save the uninstall list file on your desktop.
It will then open in Notepad.
Copy-and-Paste the uninstall list in the reply box.

Switching from Microsoft Security Essentials to AVG 2012 was NOT a good move.

It's more bloated and more problematic and more system hungry and not as user friendly.

Do NOT use it's built-in file and registry cleaning feature.

I didn't want to switch to AVG 2012 but I didn't know how to make MSE not stop half way through the scanning process.

You already have Malwarebytes installed.

Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - let it update first.
Click on Scanner > then quick scan > then Scan.
Any infections or problems will be highlighted in red.
After the scan is finished - Click - Show Results.
Check that all entries are selected.
Click - Remove Selected.
You may be prompted to restart to finish the removal process.
If Yes - restart your Pc.

Start Malwarebytes again.
Click on the Logs Tab.
Highlight the scan log entry.
Click - Open.
The scan log will appear in Notepad.
Copy and paste it in your next post.

Download - SuperAntiSpyware to your desktop.
SuperAntiSpyware
Download the free version.

SuperAntiSpyware
Click on the install icon - allow it to update during the install process.
Select the Quick Scan option.
Click Scan your Computer.
Any infections or problems will be highlighted in red.
After the scan is finished.
Click Continue.
Check that everything is listed.
Click Remove Threats.
Click OK - then click Finish
You may be prompted to restart to finish the removal process.
If Yes - restart your Pc.

Start SuperAntiSpyware again.
Click View Scan Logs.
Highlight the scan log entry.
Click - View Selected Log.
The scan log will appear in Notepad.
Copy and paste in your next post.

Put this on your "need to do" list AFTER you get your issue(s) resolved.

Adobe Reader 9.5.1 needs to be updated to 10.1.3

Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5 needs to be updated to 11.6

Java(TM) 6 Update 31 needs to be updated to 1.6.0.33(6 Update 33)

Mozilla Firefox 11.0 needs to be updated to 13.0

Keep Malwarebytes and Superantispyware - update and scan your Pc once a week.
If you are staying with Avg - leave it installed.
Click the Start button > Run > Type
msconfig

Click on the Start up tab.
Write down carefully what is listed and post the list here.

Or post a screen shot[s] of all entries in the Start up tab.

If you use your Pc for picture editing - you may need to increase the amount of Ram installed.
Run a scan at Crucial - it will show what is installed and what amount your Pc can have installed.
You do not need to buy from Crucial but good information to have if you decide to shop locally.

Can you remember what file MSE got stuck on during a scan?
I would add more Ram - see the link above to check what you have installed.

Check Device Manager - Sound - Video and Game controllers.
Click Start button>run > type
devmgmt.msc

Check for any yellow exclamation marks.
A driver may need updating.
Always go to the manufacturers website for any needed drivers.

If you are using AVG 2012, you do not need Microsoft Security Essentials. Disable and or uninstall it.

Your need to upgrade your graphics card. 128 mb is not near enough to support what you are trying to do in Windows XP and later.
