The motherboard has 4 slots and supports a maximum of 4096 MB(4 GB) of DDR PC2700 or DDR PC3200 RAM. Have you considered adding more RAM?(which is faster than using the page file/virtual memory) --------------------------------------------------------- |

Pf problem, Flavallee if i put in another 2.5g of memory will that take care of the issue where the pf keeps going up and never comes down until it blue screens and dumps memory page file and it reboots? Or will it just keep filling up untill what ever i set it at gets filledup? Also can i put the page file on a totally different hard drive? I have 2 the primary 38g and the second is 78g.what will happen

I keep the page file/virtual memory set on "system managed size" instead of manually setting its minimum and maximum sizes. I also have never used a computer with 2 hard drives or with a single hard drive divided in multiple partitions. I don't know what's installed and running in your computer, so I don't know why you're having that issue. It definitely won't hurt to add more RAM, especially if you plan to install a compatible video card and upgrade that computer to Windows 7 in the future. ----------------------------------------------------------

Thanks i'll try the memory 1st,but it weird how it will build up and not release. I have a few computors with multable drives, i usually use older drives that have bad sectors and can't run the os program but as a slave i use it for storage of pictures and such so as not to clog up the main one. That is why i can have such a small primary because all the other is stored on the larger one

A 40 - 80 GB IDE hard drive set up in a single C partition works well for me, whether I'm using Windows XP or Windows 7 in my older computers. All my personal data(photos, documents, etc.) is backed up in CD-R's. ----------------------------------------------------------- If you would like us to try to assist you further, do the following: Go here and click the green "Download latest version" link to download and save HiJackThis 2.0.4 After it's been downloaded and saved, close all open windows first, then double-click the saved file to install it. Allow it to install in its default location - C:\Program Files. After it's been installed, start it and allow its main window to load. Uncheck "Do not show this window when I start HiJackThis". Click "Do a system scan and save a log file". When the scan is finished in 30 - 60 seconds, a log file will appear. Save that log file. Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE log file here. -----------------------------------------------------------

It's pretty obvious why you have a page file/virtual memory issue and other issues with that computer. 1. It has over-kill with toolbars and browser helper objects(BHO's). 2. It has a massive number of startup entries and service entries auto-loading and running in the background. 3. It has over-kill with security-related programs. 4. TuneUp Utilities 2012 and possibly other "cleaner/fixer" type programs is being used in it. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Do the following so we can determine what needs to be uninstalled, updated, added, or replaced. Start HiJackThis. Click on the "Open The Misc Tools Section" button. Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button. Click on the "Save List" button. Save the "uninstall_list.txt" file somewhere. It'll then open in Notepad. Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE file here. ----------------------------------------------------------------

You've completed EVERYTHING in post #12? If you have, do the following in the order listed. DON'T use the computer while each scan is in progress. ---------------------------------------------------------- Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Click "Scanner(tab) - Perform quick scan - Scan". If infections or problems are found during the scan, the number of them will be highlighted in red. When the scan is finished, click "Show Results". Make sure that EVERYTHING is selected, then click "Remove Selected". If you're prompted to restart to finish the removal process, click "Yes". Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again. Click "Logs"(tab). Highlight the scan log entry, then click "Open". When the scan log appears in Notepad, copy-and-paste it here. ---------------------------------------------------------- Start SUPERAntiSpyware. Select the "Quick Scan" option, then click "Scan your Computer". If infections or problems are found during the scan, a list will appear and the number of them will be highlighted in red. When the scan is finished and the scan summary window appears, click "Continue". Make sure that EVERYTHING in the list is selected, then click "Remove Threats". Click "OK - Finish". If you're prompted to restart to finish the removal process, do so. Start SUPERAntiSpyware again. Click "View Scan Logs". Highlight the scan log entry, then click "View Selected Log". When the scan log appears in Notepad, copy-and-paste it here. ----------------------------------------------------------- Start HiJackThis, then click "Do a system scan and save a log file". Save the new log that appears, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE log here. ----------------------------------------------------------
