Solved: Black lettering on black screen
I use XP Home Edition. I was trying to change my desktop appearance, and clicked on "My current theme" under the themes tab. My desktop changed to all black, including the lettering; just the icons are there, but they are tiny, as if the resolution was changed to the highest setting. I tried getting back to the desktop properties, but since the lettering is black I cannot read anything and I don't know where to click to change anything. Is there a keyboard shortcut I could use or some other way I can get back to a normal screen? I no longer have the XP disk, so cannot reformat.

Hi, Sorry that no one replied to you.....and, I noticed that this thread is marked as "Solved".... did you manage to fix the problem?

I am sure help is still available here!

We like to have members post how they fixed something - so if you did, could you come back and post how? Thanks!

I clicked the start button, and found the "my pictures" icon. By trial and error, I finally clicked on a spot and set one of the pictures as a desktop image, then right clicked to get to the desktop properties. All the dropdowns were still black, but eventually after more trial and error clicking, I clicked the right spot and the windows classic theme came back.
