Imaging Devices missing from Device Manager
Been trying to install all-in-one printer/scanner/copier for a couple of weeks. Noticed that Imaging Devices is not listed in my Device Manager. Not sure if this is a Windows XP problem or not, but is there a way to add Imaging Devices back to the Device Manager?

Any help is appreciated.

Yes .... have installed and uninstalled about 5 times. HP support guy said it's not working because I'm missing Image Devices in the Device Manager.

HP guy is full of ca-ca because Imaging Devices doesn't show up until you have an Imaging Device installed!

My thoughts exactly. What, exactly, is your problem? Can you not use something?

Each time I install the printer/scanner, I end up with the following error message at the end of the installation:

"An error occurred communicating with the scanning device. Be sure the scanning device is connected properly and try again."

This is followed by "FRU-Client MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close".

Don't know if it's a hardware or software problem.

Was the system pre-installed with windows XP or was upgraded from 98/ME?

Is the multifunction printer/scanner connected via USB or LTP?

Are any bangs in device manger under Ports or USB?

Was is the LTP port set to (ECP or?)...

Are you able to go to start/setting/printer and faxes or do you get an error message?

System is upgraded from Win 98

USB connection .... just purchased new cable

No conflicts show up in Device Manager either before or after installation

Can go to Printers and faxes, HP printer is listed and works fine, just the scanner that is not installing

Did you install over the top of W98, or did you do a full, virgin, install? Installing over the top is NOT a good idea, despite what Mickey$oft might tell you...

Also, do you have the latest drivers? The ones that came with the printer thing will be out of date.
