Trouble with Yahoo what... the messenger? mail? browser? Did you delete internet explorer?

Did you change something in your browser advanced options to restrict downloading?

Are popups blocked a nd you have to allow them? A yellow bar on the top of the browser window will indicate it - sometimes I've noticed that when you try to download something, it pops up a new window, which xp with it's popup blocker, blocks.

Have you tried doing a System Restore?

Start > run: msconfig > Launch System Restore, and choose a calendar date prior to the problem.

System Restores can be "undone" if not helpful.

Try creating a new User Account, give it administrative rights, log into it, and see if things improve any.

If you are able to download and run HijackThis, please post a Scanlog:

Download and install HijackThis using the "self extractor". Run it and select "do a system scan and save the log file". Then copy/paste the contents of the log to a reply

To start with, there are just way too many processes running from this program:

http://castlecops.com/o23list-772.html

I would recommend uninstalling it through Add/Remove Programs -- then reboot.

You also have a lot of malware running. I don't usually handle "Security" threads but will get you started here, and if more help is needed will request it for you.

>>

Have these instructions printed or in a convenient Notepad (or Wordpad) file so you can view them in Safe Mode. Have "show hidden (or all) files" checked in Folder Options > View in case you have to search for any hidden files to delete. Also ensure you do NOT have "hide file extensions..." enabled in Folder Options > View

If HijackThis has not been downloaded or copied to a permanent folder, move it there before beginning.

Then:

1 >> Restart in Safe Mode. Instructions here if you need them: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...01052409420406

2 >> In Safe Mode runrun HijackThis and check and "fix" the following entries:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {00A6FAF6-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\SrchAstt\1.bin\MWSSRCAS.DLL

3 >> Go to Start > Run and enter cmd and a command shell will open. At the prompt carefully type and enter each line:

C:\WINDOWS\Xhrmy.exe

Additional cleanup instructions: Go to the Control Panel > Internet Options applet. Clear the Temporary Internet Cache, History and Offline Content. Go to the Programs tab and select "reset web settings", including your home page if it has been altered. You can reset that later to what you desire.

Go to Start > Run, enter %temp% and then click Edit > Select All. Right click on the selected files and folders and delete them

>> Reboot

If you can now download and install larger programs, follow these instructions to download, install and run Ewido:

Click here to download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Install Ewido.
During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
Launch ewido.
It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen.
On the left side of the main screen click update.
Click on Start and let it update.
DO NOT run a scan yet.

Restart your computer into Safe Mode now.
(Start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen).
Perform the following steps in Safe Mode:

* Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK.
When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
Save the report to your desktop.

Reboot.

Post a new Hijack This log and the results of the Ewido scan.
