I recommend it.
Doing this did not affect my computer in anyway. I already had the other problems that i mentioned. I completely recommend doing it if you want to fix your current problem.

I used information given to someone else.
I didn't actually post a question for this problem. I used the information given to someone else that had the same problem. Fortunately it worked.

I have had a problem for a couple months where the desktop image would not clear and the mwnu to change it was disabled. After using the link http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs...aperenable.reg it cleared it straight away. Many thanks for sorting out an annoying problem.

Major probems
Hi
I am about to explode I have had Trojan.Winfixer on my machine for a few days, and have tried: Avastantivirus, Spywaredoctor, Vundofix, SuperAntiSpyware, all to no avail. I have still got it, and I also cannot change my desktop wallpaper, or even see my desktop wallpaper!!! When I go to the "Display" on my Control Panel, the "browse" buttons are blanked out, so I cant use them!! HELP!!! i AM COMING CLOSE TO LAUNCHING MY LAPTOP OFF THE NEAREST TALL BUILDING, FOLLOWED BY MYSELF!!!! Is the Trojan Winfixer a particulaly nasty virus????
Please explain things s-l-o-w-l-y to me, as I am an absolute beginner!
Yours hopefully
Judith

I tried changing the address as you said, but it still wouldnt work. I kept getting 404NotFound, and the following message:We are very sorry for any inconvenience
you will find some things have been moved

please start from the Index page and follow the links from there

Thanks for visiting and we are still here to help you with your spyware & Virus problems

http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/

You were looking for /files/old/cleandesktop.exe This is most likely a file that has been moved.
if the url was http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/"name of file" Please change files to downloads in the link to get to it
Help!!!

Desktop backround
1. Run "Regedit".

2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\policies

3. If you see a folder (key) "ActiveDesktop" select it. If not, make a new key and label it "ActiveDesktop".

4. If you see "NoChangingWaIiPaper", double-click the DWORD value and set it to "0". Otherwise, you need to create a new DWORD value of "NoChangingWaIiPaper" and set it to "0".

5. Try changing your wallpaper. If this fix doesn't solve the problem, you may also need to make the above registry changes at location:
HKEY _CURRENT _USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies .
