Question Solved: Unable to Log Off My Computer
Lately, I have been having problems logging off my computer. I would press ...START...then...LOG OFF...and nothing will happen. Anything I can do to fix this? My only work around is to unplug the computer. Any useful information will be helpful. Thanx.

do you have hjt as you may have a program running that is stopping the stop procedure to happen.

I had the same problem, except it was that i could not shut down. I click START>TurnOffComputer>Turn Off and nothing would happen. I would have to log off then turn of from there. The problem went away though.

I've looked at www.windowsnetwork.com site for information about the shutting down windows issue.

facts:

My computer does not restart when I attempt to shut down
I have Roxio Media Creator 8 (latest version, so I'm sure there bug is fixed in that version)
Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile is Disabled

so everything looks good, but for some reason, I still cannot restart or even shut down my computer.

ok, I just went to the other website (support.microsoft.com) and I set my computer up so everytime I close a brower it will automatically delete my cache. That was microsoft's solution to the problem...i will try this out and see if it works..but until then here is my HJT log...

cud be a software/windows conflict... if this has happened happened recently then try uninstalling recent software installed on your pc.. you can always put it back on

Does the problem persists in safe mode (you can also try msconfig to (Start==> Run ==> MSConfig )run a minimal set, and then gradually restoring services and applications)?

Then you can find out which piece of software/Driver is causing the problem.

Does the problem also occurs when you are logged in as a diffrent user? if not try creating a new user profile and just copy the data
