This section describes necessary settings to get access to more than 2.0GB of memory on Windows® XP® within a V5 process.

Background

By default, Version 5 processes on Windows can allocate up to 2.0GB of memory for storing data and code. The 4GB address space offered by the operating system is split in two areas of 2GB each: the first 2GB is for user mode, and the other 2GB isg reserved by the kernel. On Windows® XP®, it is possible to increase the default allocation capabilities up to 3.0GB (3GB for user mode, 1GB reserved for kernel). Such capability requires additional tunings in order to be effective:

Have you removed jsut one of the Ram chips and tried running to see what it gives for quantity? Then switch to the other Ram chip and check the quantity?

For my PC, which has same brand (AMI) bios, but can vary slightly...

in the BIOS, 4th option from the top, "PCI / Plug and play"
Primary display AGP
Allow IRQ for PCI NO
Allow Busmastering YES (shouldn't affect you)

Keep in mind, this is for MY machine, yours may be different

Exactly what I was thinking, make sure you move the stick over to the first slot when you do so however. That'll test for a bad stick. (Unless of course 512 comes up both times, then you look at either the slot, or like mentioned above, your onboard GPU draining your RAM.)

Exclamation New Find Conflict Mem>range !! S.o.s.
OK first of all :

1.- I start the test for bad Dimm stick , and none of the sticks its damage both give me 1GB of Ram I tried in both sockets and test both sticks separetly , then I placed both mem.sticks in the sockets cover the p.c. and fire it up , same thing it shows just 1.49 GB of Ram .

2.- I open my BIOS in advance tab I find the PNP in ALLOW IRQ for PCI - NO
and ALLOW BUSHMASTERING - YES .
press f10 to save changes boot normal to windows , chekcked properties and same situation 1.49 GB of Ram !!???

===============================

OK now I open my Hardware tab in Device Manager to chek all my devices by TYPE went to my: PCI Standard PCI - to PCI Bridge Properties and find a CONFLICT !!

0 memory Range 9FE00000 - DFEFFFFF
Conflict device list
Memory Range 9FE00000 - DFEFFFFF
Used by : Motherboard resources <-----------------------------

Now I went to chek the : Motheboard Resources Properties and find this ;

Memory Range C0000000 - C0000FF used by :
PCI Standard PCI - to PCI Bridge <-------------------------------

Now I wcontinued cheking all the devices and just this ones came up with this conflict , the video card is OK no conflict his IRQ is Cool and memory range is OK .

------------------------

So now GUYS pls. if this " Conflict " in memory range of Moterboarda nd PCI bridge , the source of this " BAD DISPLAY of Memory Ram " ?????
and were can I go to fix this Conflict in the system ? because it can be fix , right ?

And by the way I tested with ALLOW IRQfor PCI -" NO" then to "YES" to see if this conflict could be fix by changing the value to NO or to YES but didn't have any IMPACT on it no change at all , the conflict was there at all times , so I place my SYSTEM back to were it was , in Allow IRQ for PCI - "YES" .

thanks to all . S.O.S.

I FIND THIS !!!
Reported memory does not match installed memory
"When you view the Performance tab in System properties, the amount of memory reported may differ from the actual amount of memory installed in the computer. This behavior can occur for any of the following reasons: Himem.sys is not using all the memory on an EISA computer. A driver or program loading from the Config.sys or Autoexec.bat file is claiming a portion of random access memory (RAM). A virtual device driver loading from the System.ini file is claiming a portion of RAM. A protected-mode driver is causing the memory mismatch. The registry is damaged. A CMOS setting is disabling some of the RAM. You have the 'maxphyspage=' setting in your System.ini file set to restrict Windows from using some of the installed memory. Ramdrive.sys is being loaded in the Config.sys file. You are using a video adapter that is integrated into the motherboard."

IM going to get through this article to see if I can get a fix !! grrrrrrr !! thisis getting anoying
lol

Exclamation Install 2GBmem.ram but display half .
ok by now theres one direct answer to this : ASUS say Flash BIOS !! but some ppl here probably knows a way around to this , One is to fix "adjust" my BIOS but havent find the correct application or tab to click , then the other is this conflict in Devices memory and PCI , so Im trying to figure it out that If I can fix this Conflict of devices , will this fix the wrong display or theres no other option that to Flash the BIOS !!!
please guys give me a hand , if anyone had or have ths situation and if you were able to fix it and how , I wil really apreciate the help , my computer is doing a slugish load at times .

Thanks again for any help .
