c_spursdll not found!
Hi folks

I have a new HP laptop running on Win XP Prof. When I boot up, I get an error message saying: "Resource file <c_spursdll> not found!". I click "ok" in the error box and it disappears and there doesn't seem to be any problem with performance, software etc, but it's just irritating. I have done a web search for a download of this file, without success.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Landrover

Have you added anything new lately or delete a program lately?

I would also do some Scans

TrendMicro Housecall

TrendMicro Housecall (Europe)
  • Click Scan Now. It's Free!
  • Read and put a Check next to Yes I accept the terms of use.
  • Click Launching HouseCall button.
  • If confirmed that HouseCall can run on your system, under Using Java-based HouseCall kernel click the Starting HouseCall button.
  • You may receive a Security Warning about the TrendMicro Java applet, click YES.
  • Under Scan complete computer for malware, grayware, and vulnerabilities click the Next button.
  • Please be patient while it installs, updates, and scans your system.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will take you to the summary page.
  • Under Cleanup options, choose clean all detected infections automatically.
  • Click the Clean now button.
  • If anything was found you will prompted to run the scan again, you can just close the browser window.

I have installed various software, like MS office, Endnote, Adobe Photoshope, Cleanup, Registry Mechanic, Spywareblaster and Trend Micro. I have done a scan with latest Trend Micro updates and all was clean. Can't remember deleting any programs.

To download HJTsetup.exe To Download HijackThis go to the following: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/...tpmod;dl=item5
Filename = 1137518044HJTsetup.exe
Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

A security expert should take a look at your log - please be patient.

I generate this problem everytime I run a registry cleaner on an HP laptop.

You can probably fix it by going to add/remove programs and running repair, or re-install the "HP embedded security for protect tools" application.

Good luck!

Here is the deal.

This happened to me also. You don't need to reinstall, since the only the registry entry of the file was deleted, not the file itself. Just start regedit and navigate into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Infenion\TPM Software and insert a new string value named "C_SpURsDll" with the contents "C:\Program Files\ProtectTools\Embedded Security Software\IfxSpURs%s.dll" (both without the ""). After a restart, credential manager will work properly.

When using your regcleaner, be sure to put the path I wrote to the ignore list.

I had the version installed in 2 languages those conflicted. After deinstalling the last one, the problem was solved.
Furthermore during the installation the new software gave me the error chip not available. So probably that's the main reason.

Thanks a lot, you were right on the money,
Note for others, check the file path to ensure it reflects your file structure
I use “Max Registry Cleaner” but I am not sure yet how to ensure it does not delete the path next time round. Have tried once already but without luck.
Any ideas?
