WMPNSCFG.exe of Windows Media Player 11 Will NOT DIE!!!!

I have done the following:

1. disabled it in MSCONFIG

2. checked it in SERVICES.MSC and it is disabled

3. ran highjack this and removed the 04 wmpnscfg.exe from the list

4. Deleted wmpsncfg.exe and the wmpnssci.dll from the c\program files\windows media player.

and the F***n thing still is in msconfig startup after i opened and closed Windows Media player,so has anyone been able to totally remove this crap form startup?

I use WMP for everything but dont need all that other crap running i dont even have a network cable connected to my pc.

dose anyone know of a good all in 1 media player i could try instead?

No wonder you need a newer pc to run windows Vista, Microsoft puts so much crap in there programs and OS that even when its disabled or windows says it is ....... it still runs !!

I deleted
wmpnetwk.exe from C\program files\windows media player


I found it in the Registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run

and deleted it

I Removed it from the registry and it still comes back when I start Windows Media Player 11 I'm missing something or it's just cannot be removed from startup witch would suck

I have been chasing it in Vista for 2 weeks now and no matter what I do it comes back. maybe we should look in the program for an Option to handle this?
Right click the top panel next to arrows and try Tools, Options and there is an auto update that says daily, weekly. monthly and underneath "check for codecs"...I bet if check for "codecs were unchecked", then the top would be also...but am not sure if I want to do that now that I see why we can't kill it. That can't use much resources.

To exit that app, run (Note that "/Close" is case sensitive):
"\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmpnscfg.exe" /Close

To make it not run again, open the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences\HME and set the
DWORD value DisableDiscovery to 2. If you had a UPnP Media Renderer or
control point on your local network, you'd also be able to disable it by
right-clicking on its taskbar icon (which only shows if it finds a UPnP
Media Renderer or control point) and choose "Disable Future Notifications".

As to why it starts running when you've disabled media sharing, that's a bug
in WMP 11 Beta2.
