What does this mean and what do I do?
Got a msg this morning that my computer is low on "Virtual Memory". As the title says, what does this mean and what do I do?

How much memory does the PC have?

To see press Windows Logo key + Pause Break key together
At the bottom of the new screen you will see amount of Ram.

It means that whatever you are trying to do, there is not enough memory to process it. It is recommended that you invest in some more RAM. However, you may be able to workaround the issue by doing:

Microsoft Windows XP
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
3. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
4. On the Advanced tab, under Virtual memory, click Change.
5. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change.
6. Under Paging file size for selected drive, click to select the System managed size check box, and then click Set.
7. Click OK three times.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

It might also be possible that your hard drive contains too much data for Windows to use the free space it needs for the page file. Is your drive very full of data? If so, it might be best to copy video, music, and photo files to CD and then delete the stored files from the drive. An exterior hard drive makes for convenient storage and leaves the files immediately accessible.
