Solved: Double click folder opens new window - argh
XP Pro

Basically I was messing around in file types because my folder icons were botched. Ran TweakUI to fix folder icons, but here is what happened.

After I was poking around in there, double clicking a folder opened the search window. So i went into file types and created a new action, and pointed it at explorer.exe from my windows directory.

Now, the problem is, when i double click it opens the folder in a new window, instead of the same.

I when I am in the advanced settings of file types (tools-folder options-file types) the Edit and Remove buttons will not light up, but i am the administrator.

Restore defaults doesn't work.

Is there a backend way to fix this anyone knows of, short of reformatting ??

p.s. a system restore to a previous date did nothing.

Thanks in advance !!!

Try this:
Start> Run> type regsvr32 /i shell32.dll then hit OK.
