Solved: installed XP SP2 - fonts are now different & viewing area is smaller
I've gone into control panel to "display" but was unable to figure out how to change the fonts. And ... web page does not utilize full screen ... everything is smaller ... help?

what kind of computer is it? laptop, desktop, and specifically, is it an lcd, crt monitor, flat panel display, etc. reason I ask is, LCDs typical in laptops have native resolutions that, when changed, will cause everything to go funky. or, somehow the screen resolution was changed and the monitor didn't properly resize the viewing area to fit the entire viewable area of the monitor/lcd/flat panel display.

just go into the display properties window by right-clicking any free area of the desktop and hitting Properties. Once there, look at the screen resolution and change it to a lower number, for example, it might be at like 1280 x 1024, you can go down to 1024 x 768 or even 800 x 600 depending on your monitor/screen. if for some reason, when you change the resolution and hit "Apply," and the screen goes black, if you wait 10-15 seconds, it'll return. some older monitors have lower refresh rates and if your video card was set to something too high for it, the monitor goes black. don't worry, if you DON'T hit the Enter key, it'll return in 10-15 seconds. Or, you can hit the ESC key and it'll go back quicker.

Once you hit the apply button in the Display Properties and it changes, it'll bring up a countdown 10-15 seconds asking you again if you want to keep these changes. If you do nothing, it'll revert to the last screen resolution. If the black screen comes up, then you don't want to keep changes. try messing around with the resolution until you find one you can work with.
