Unhappy XP Pro Hangs at "press any key to boot from cd"
Hi,

Having a problem with my firends pc. He has a Fujitsu Siemens 'Cordant' PC which was not booting up at all. I managed to fix this and install the xp home recovery disk that came with the pc. Unfortunatly he now needs XP Pro which hangs at "press any key to boot from cd" when i put it in his machine. The cd itself is in perfect working order and will boot on other computers. All hardware is fine as XP home installed fine and when i try to press enter to boot from cd, the computer makes a beeping noise - so the keyboard is recognised.

Any help greatly appreciated

Jon.

Constant beeping can be a stuck key on the keyboard or a bad ram chip or any other number of items. First try another keyboard then mess with the RAM by first repeating it.

Try a different disk drive (I seen alot of drives fail to boot from a CD, but could
read/write CDs just fine--for some reason)

I suspect its not the CD, but either the BIOS or hardware.

I can go over techincal reasons as why I believe this, but rather not right now

Nontheless, it has to do with the way the keboard INT handler is mapped to the BIOS
...Which is producing your beeps. Assuming this is the problem, anyway.

I am having this issue, but this is a gooder so stay with me. I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 notebook. If i use my Dell MCE 2005 OEM, Dell Vista OEM, or Touch Systems XP Home OEM disks, the notebook goes to a blank screen after i press the spacebar key at the screen " Press any key...." and hangs there (i left it there for 30 Min). Now, if no one ask questions, if i try to boot my XP Pro x64, or Vista Bussiness Edition disks, i can install the OS without any problems.

So one would think ooo must be cuz they are burnt disks. Incorrect, as i have copied the above OEM disks and they still dont work. OEM disks work in another computer (not a notebook, but another computer) so its not the disks. Also i have borrowed a friends XP disk and still, no worky.

Crazy huh? Im at a loss. Help?
