Windows Security Centre- Can not be disabled
Friends...
Please anybody help me to learn how to disable Windows Security Centre in XP-Sp2.
I can not locate it in registry...nor in start-up entry in MSCONFIG. The icon in the tray does not show any option to disable it.
Similarly one of my PC with Xp-SP1 runs scandisk to check disk drives with every startup (even if i allow it to complete the process and ensure NO ERRORS, it repeats itself in next boot)

Go to Start > Run and type in services.msc
then scroll down the list and double click on the entry Security Center
Then change the startup type to disabled, and click on the Stop button to Stop the service
OK
Reboot

Thanks for quick and effective reply. At present I am in login of a user without sufficient rights. Prbably for this reason I am getting Error-5 Access denied. Could not be stopped in local computer.
I will try it in another login. Please give a hint to rectify the second problem (SCANDISK).
Thanx
