Hello Guys,

I have an IBM T41 laptop wich has win xp installed, I got a problem with my computer.

When ever i try to open hiden file i have first i have to mark show hiden file from folder options, but it doesnt eccespt that changed and i can see hiden files.

actually when i go back to folder option still that option of show hiden files is not marked dispite i try to mark it apply and ok. but still it goes on that way that is it was.

is there any way that i can fix this problem i believe that it is a kind of virus that has changed the registry of my Laptop.

any help will be highly appreciated.

Lets see if it enables hidden files

Start >> run >> regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanc ed\

Setting the Hidden setting to 1 shows hidden files, setting it to 0 does not show hidden files

This will show hidden or system files, but not files that are both hidden and system.

Go to the registry editor ... change the value to 0 as told above ... after that

Download this regfile
Line 30 --- Windows XP Doesn't Save User Settings
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Merge it with registry

Restart your computer .. come back and check if the registry value has change back to 2 or not

Hello ....

IMPORTANT ************************

FIRST backup your registry .... using ERUNT

http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

_________________________________________________________________

Now

Go to Start >> RUn >> regedit >> navigate to ...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advan ced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL

Now right click on,and delete the value "CheckedValue" in the right hand window.

Now create a new "DWORD Value" called exactly CheckedValue in the right hand window.
Double click on CheckedValue.
In the opening 'Edit DWORD Value' box,set the 'Value data:' to 1

Press Ok,exit regedit,restart your pc.

Hope this solves your problem
