Solved: Windows has encountered a problem...
Hello =)

I came across this message today,

"Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovience".

I clicked on the "To see what data this error report contains, click here"
Here is the info I got from that:

Error Signature App Name: explorer.exe ModVer : 1.0.0.5
AppVer : 6.0.2.9.00.3156 Modname: mpegsplitter.ax Offset : 000249eb

Im hoping someone can give me a few suggestions on how to get rid of this message.

My Dats:
Laptop - Toshiba Satelitte
OS : Windows XP Home Edition 2002 Service Pack 2
I use Internet Explorer 6

I guess you probably need to know where Im encountering this problem... It only happens when I go to My Documents>My Videos>Veoh.

Thank you in advance, and I'll be checking my question often, so please feel free to ask as many questions as you need, I will try to reply quickly.

Pamela.
ps. I came across this website due to another issue I had (actually two other issues I had) and now I am a loyal member...this is great to have access to people who know much much more than I do. Kudos to you all .

Download and Run HijackThis
Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
  • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.
Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi Mike,
thanks for getting back to me. I got impatient, and started searching for other threads.... came across one under "mpeg-4". I ended up deleting K-Lite, and installing XPCodec Pack. Then I had to install Quicktime and ITunes.

Got rid of my error, but i now cant play Mpeg-4 files... Actually QuickTime doesnt even open!!?? I'll take any advise

here is my hijack this log:
