Question rundll32.exe error message
I recently went through an installation of my Creative Soundblaster 5.1 MP3 soundcard. I was able only to get it working after Microsoft helped me to restore some .bak file. I'm not sure of the exact steps. After that I purchased the stand alone CD from Creative that provided the rest of the software/drivers for the other features of the card. Then I received two successive error messages upon restarting and every time after (up to and including the present time). The first message says in the title" Rundll32.exe- Entry Point Not Found." Within the body of the error window it says, " The procedure entry point ThunkConnect32 could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll. " Immediately after clicking OK, the second error message says in the title bar, " RUNDLL". In the body of the error message it says, " Error in NvQTwk Missing Entry:NvCplDaemon".
Does anyone have any idea what these are? I have searched the windows knowledge base with several key words without success. I don't see any functionality lost but the error messages are annoying and I'd like to correct the problem and/or eliminate the error messages.
I am running Windows XP Home on a PC clone AMD 850 Tbird, with 512MB PC133 RAM, 100 GB HD.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Question hmmmm...odd site
I have never heard of this site or its product(s)/service(s). I sent them the body of my query if they can be of assistance. I saw that the first error message was the same....but it doesn't address correcting it. AND, I get the message everytime I start my computer.
Thanks for trying. I appreciate it.

Talking Solved rundll32.exe
It turned out that it was a virus: something like a kak worm.
Odd...since I'd done several scans to check for any, too...but just as I was doing a search my virus scan popped a window that it had quarantined the virus and suggested a course of action.

Talking Solution!!!!!
I have received 6 separate emails in regard to this same error message. What I found is as follows:
I did a search of keywords related to the error messages and while I was searching I received a pop up window from my virus scan that it had discovered a virus. When I followed the instructions for taking care of it and finished reading my search on the keywords I discovered that the virus and some of the keywords had matched. It was, I believe some sort of "kak worm". I use PCcillin2000 as my virus program. I made sure that I had an up to date version of the software and rescanned. This after about 10 days of infrequent searching for the subject. I would advise you to make sure that whatever virus scan program you are running is up to date. In other words, go to their website...whoever your software provider is( Mcafee, Symantec, PcCillin, etc.) and proceed with whatever updating procedures that they have.
I had done at least 2 full scans of my system before it even discovered it, and it discovered it during a real time scan. The file name from my virus log is as follows: JS_kakworm.a .This all happened on March 7. Since that time I have had no problems with that stupid nvqtwk...
I hope that this helps. If this is something that helps you, please let me know how things turn out.
God Bless.

May not be a virus
I got the error message as well. I got it when I tried to uninstall the new NVidia drivers. When I re-installed them, it went away (although the drivers mess up my video card). It may have something to do with NVidia's drivers. NvQTwk is used to adjust your GeForce settings. All of this occurred around March 7th, although I'm not sure of the exact date, so it still could possibly be a virus.

I'm trying to fix the problem without virus software now by editing the registry. I'll let you know if I get it fixed.

Possible solutions
Running Windows2000

Changed NVidia graphics card to Matrox and I "tried" deleting all Nvidia drivers (many steps...)

When I rebooted I would get a message "Error loading NvQTwk"

I downloaded and installed the "NvQTwk.dll" file into C:\WINNT\system32 directory

Rebooted and got the message "Error in NvQTwk" AND "Missing Entry:NvCplDaemon"

Solution?
1) Deleted "NvQTwk.dll" file in C:\WINNT\system32 directory
2) Deleted "RUNDLL32.EXE NvQTwk,NvCplDaemon" in registry

I backed up the registry file before I deleted anything.

I found the "RUNDLL32.EXE NvQTwk,NvCplDaemon" ....

Regedit\ \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Microsoft\windows\current version\run

Smile rundll error NvCplDaemon
Hi!
I'm new, but have enjoyed the forum. I have a similar problem. Downloaded an update from Win. 98 that said it had found Nvidia hardware. When I started download it was asking for disks. I have a CD that came with the Visiontek card (GForce 2 400MMX with 64mg.) It could not find the files on CD. Tried to cancel but wouldn't let me. Now I get a box with rundll error "error in NcQtwk Missing Entry: NvCplDaemon" Box comes up when I turn on computer. Click ok box and it goes away. No obvious problems. I have run a virus scan with Norton but found nothing. Somewhere on this forum I learned to click it off in Start up, now it doesn't come up but I don't know what it does. Can someone tell me? Appreciate the help, and all the other help I have gleaned from this forum to date.
My system is a P-4 1.8 G with Visiontek G-force2 400MMX 64mg, 40G 7200 hd and 256 Ram. Not new to computers but still a Novice! Thanks! LilOlMan

Lightbulb Solution
I had the same problem with the Windows Update Nvidia driver
So I went to NVIDIA.com clicked on Download Drivers and choose
the OS your using. This worked for me today but in April
the install failed(it wouldn't let me change resolution)
So give it a try the new driver has huge number of features
compared to the OEM version I've been using.

Good Luck

Same error also
I am also getting the same error as you and also under the same circumstances upgraded win98 to Xp Pro just becuase I was to lazy to fresh install took longer than fresh install to. Anyways upon installing the newest detonator drivers for my Geforce 2 GTS I am getting the error ThunkConnect32 failed to load in dynamic link blah blah blah. I guess Micro$oft and Nvidia are clashing with the upgrade. Hopefully someone knows what to do its just plain annoying.

Thanks

I solved my problem by installing the Asus 8200 GeForce3 Ti500 drivers 20.??

For some unknown reason, this error occurs with the Nvidia Detonator drivers (at least for me!).....

Me too!

I just upgraded from ME to XP, all was working well, then at the same time I upgraded to the 30.82 drivers for my Geforce3 Ti 200 as well as for my SBLive!Value card and my HP OfficeJet g55xi all in one. Probably shouldn't have done them at the same time.

Any suggestions how to fix this? I lost my internet now with the error message, so having to use wife's comp.

Thanks a ton,
Oy.

I just ran into this same problem earlier today. I Installed Windows XP over top of Windows ME and when my comp started up i got the THunkconnect32 and nvtwk errors. The problem is that Windows XP is trying to use the WIndows9x device drivers. So what i did was just deleted all driver files and installed a new copy of the XP drivers fresh, instead of over the previous driver files.
