Computer slows down after downloading software
Guys..NEED HELP ~~~
I downloaded a software from the net. While installing, my Kaspersky says that some files are trying to 'embed itself to another process' and therefore are blocked. Meanwhile my Spybot alerts that some registry need to be changed by the installation process, I disallowed some of the changes.
After installation, I found that the software I downloaded is not the one that I want (it's an older version), so I uninstall it. But after that my computer becomes EXTREMELY slow...each file that I clicked takes minutes to open!
Am I infected with virus? But Kaspersky shows no virus..and Spybot shows no spyware infected too!
I did registry cleanup and registry defragmentation, but it doesn't help...
So what is happening here?? and what should I do? Should I reformat my computer or restore it?...this is very depressing
Thanks in advance.

Please never use registry cleaners. They will only end up damaging your computer.

You need to allow everything to go through during an installation or it will be incomplete.

Turn off Kaspersky, Spybot, and any other monitoring tools and reinstall the app. Then uninstall again to be assured that you got all of it.

Look in Task Manager to see if anything is using a lot of CPU (click the top of the CPU column twice to put the app using the most at the top).

"E": This didn't work for me, despite several attempts: "Look in Task Manager to see if anything is using a lot of CPU (click the top of the CPU column twice to put the app using the most at the top)."

Also, if you have a recent restore point in system restore, it should pretty much achieve the same as the reinstalling/uninstalling procedure mentioned by Elvandil.

Yeah, Task Manager doesn't always show everything accurately, but in most cases it will let you determine the culprit

Still not working after restoration....
Thanks for the replies guys ...
I did a computer restore to a previous date, using a restore software (not the windows one).
The good thing is my computer is not slow anymore, the BAD thing is my windows is corrupted, many programs not working: the search function, Help and support function, and most importantly, the wireless device and mouse cannot be used anymore.
The property menus for the mouse and wireless device shows them to be working properly but nevertheless they are not working.
It seems the only choice now is to reformat?
