Both I and a colleague are having the same problem with our Thinkpad T60p's running XP.
Ocassionally the machine will freeze while running on the docking station - either the screen will go black or with crazy patterns.
When we try to powercycle (while still on the dock), it shows us the BIOS splash screen, but then when the XP Windows logo is fading in from black, it gets stuck. We see a very faint "Windows" logo, but it just sits there.
Taking it off the dock doesn't usually solve it - still freezes on boot w/ faint Windows logo.
Removing the battery temporarily (while off the dock) doesn't do it either. Same behavior when we try to boot.
The only thing we can get to make it come back up reliably is removing the battery entirely and putting it back on the dock to run off AC power. Strangely, once we do this, we can shut down, replace the battery, and everything will work normally for a while.
Any ideas on what is going on, and what we need to do to fix it?
Thanks!
