If all the e-mail are in a Personal Address Book, then compacting the the PST file won't affect them at all. They would be in a separate WAB file.

If you right click on Personal Folders, select Properties, the Folder Size, what is the size of the folder? If this is smaller than the size of the PST file on the computer, it needs to be compacted.

Did you read my prev. posts? If I Change outlook.pst my adress book will not be there?

Here are my files again:

achive.pst
extend.dat
outlook.pst (1,918,545 KB)
Person Folder.pst (678,545 KB)

1. I cannot open any othese files.

2. I did export my "Contacts" and tried to put it into the Personal Folder but got this error " The source & destination folders for the operation cannot be the same.". I thought great then I can delete outlook.pst with no problem! WRONG! I rebooted and I had no address book. I had to restore it and the addres book came back!

No, they're in the Inbox. Can you open Outlook by double-clicking the shortcut on the Desktop?

If so, click View on the top toolbar, highlight Current View with your mouse pointer, and see what item is check in the dropdown menu to the side.

Oh yes, absolutely read them all.

For example, you just asked two more questions. Yes I did read your previous posts. And previously you asked the same question regarding whether your address book will be there or not. Again, it will after you compact it.Just did this twice this morning, compacted people's PST files and everything, e-mails, contacts, calendar, extra folders were all still there afterwards.

So from my previous post to compact your e-mail and determine the actual file size, how did that go when you tried either one.

So how did compacting the file that is too large go. At this point it is why you can't add any more to it.

From the information provided so far:

1. You have a PST file that is too large.
2. You have removed most of the e-mails you want from that PST file
3. You have emptied the Deleted Items
4. The file is still too large.

That's exactly the reason why compacting the file is necessary, again given the information provided so far. It would be good to get those details regarding the folder size as reported by Outlook and the File size on the hard drive.

Good. Click View again, select Folder List, and tell me what you see.

While you may be able so see previous e-mails, and even have removed them from the Deleted Items folder, but as you are reporting, the file size is still too large, which is preventing you from adding anything that file.

"outlook.pst (1,918,545 KB)"

Is that correct?

Or has the file size since been reduce? If so how?

If you haven't gotten mail for the past 7 days, that would explain why you don't see any. What happens if you just configure it to show all e-mail.

What exact PST file are you using at this point. Or are you using all those mentioned.

If you are using all those mentioned, what happened after you deleted all the unnecessary e-mail and compacted that large file?

Compacting the e-mail file is quite a bit different than deleting it.

I compacted it. It took about a hour to do it. Here is what I have NOW:
outlook.pst (1,918,495 KB)
outlook.sit (1,278,495 KB)
Personal Folder (726,161 KB)

I still cannot edit anything in my Adress Book. The Problem says "It has reached it's maximum size. to reduce the amount of data in this file select some items you no longer need and permananently delete them using SHIFT & DELETE. You should also consider using the new Outlook Personal Folder file (.pst) that provides greater capapcity for storing items"

I would love to use the Personal Folder - but it does not contain my addrees book.

I am thinking about giving up with this IBM computer and using MAc instead!
