Exclamation Multiple Issues WinXP Genuine Software + Websites don't load
Hello,

This thread is in regards multiple issues with my friends Laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

He's running an Inspiron 6000 which is pretty new and well taken care of.
For the past few months the Genuine Microsoft Software always prompts upon login as well as stays in the system tray. I remember going through this once a while back and clearing it through the Microsoft website, but it returned and now when I go to the website it appears 'approved' or 'cleared' so there's nothing left for me to do.

Why did this appear in the first place and how can we get rid of it.

Even more recently, specific websites on the computer will no longer load. I.E. Google, AOL, Myspace and so on...

I have read numerous threads regarding attempting to clear the cashe by ipconfig/flushdns and clearing your coockies and history. Also change the security settings and attempting to turn off the firewall.

When we used www.sureproxy.com the websites loaded, but this is only a temporary solution to the problem.

When I went in and turned off the firewall, and then clicked back in the red shield in the system tray, the firewall setting appeared ON. How can we disable that if it's going to solve the issues.

The reason I'm putting these issues together, is because we believe they may be related to one another.

I did run Hijackthis which cleared some of the issues, but it didn't really do anything.

Sigh... that is all. Please help us if you have a soul.
Thank you.

Let me know if you have any questions.
