Heheh. No, I just...multitask my procrastinations. If that makes any sense.

I'm going to try to attach this morning's minidump in a zip file. Also, I had recorded the time and conditions of the crash, and the circumstances thereof, in case anybody needs more information. Just let me know.

I was doing a reinstall of "Windows Live Photo Gallery," and the installer apparently takes it upon itself to update all your other WL software.

[Edited for Length & Clarity] I use WL Mail...the way I understand many users have Outlook open and running (during a session). I also had been meaning to update WL Messenger because lately it's been hanging on launch, forcing me to "end process" via Task Manager and re-launch. I wanted to see if a reinstall would correct the issue. I recorded the version and build number both pre- and post-update. It seems I now have the 2009 "version" of the messenger and my other WL programs...the 2008 versions looked more professional and behaved accordingly...I'm wondering what else they might have "dumbed down" in order to more readily accommodate the lowest common user denominator...

My point is that the machine BSOD'd right after updating all this stuff, so I can't help but assume a connection. Environmentally, I had a number of FF3 tabs open, and had just launched the AOL Instant Messenger's built-in radio player. Following that action, I got the blue screen. I find it strange that the actual "blue screen" was confined to the upper left-hand corner of the monitor, while the rest of the screen was dark. The text of the error was perfectly readable, same "driver irql not less or equal" that I've had the other times this transpired.

At the time of this writing, I have these same programs up and running with no observable issues. Mail and messaging are working as well as I'd expect them to.

Finding the cause of something that happens every month or two when you have a zillion things running is gonna take a lot of luck!

I didn't look at any of your logs or dumps, but scanned the rest of the thread. I suggest that you go to your computer manufacturer's web site and make sure you have all the latest chipset and other drivers. Also make sure you have the latest drivers for external cards (especially the wireless adapter).

If you go long periods (days, weeks) between reboots I suggest you reboot more frequently to let Windows do the cleanup it does on shutdown and startup.

And, finally, give your stack and WINSOCK a fresh start ...

(From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2 or SP3.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Are these stack and winsock repairs the same procedures that happen when clicking "repair" in the WZC utility?

Your most recent log shows an error caused by "ss.sys", and two of your logs from six months ago show the same error.

A couple of Google results indicate it might be a Belkin wireless adapter. If that is what you have, have you tried to locate updated drivers for it?

Yes. What's on the Website is the same as what came on the CD.

Not that I know of. Note that 'repair' does not require a reboot. I don't know if 'repair' really does any more than ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew.

Question: when I run those commands, do I need to disconnect from the Internet first, or just leave things the way they are?

And - pardon my inexperience here - but can I just select and copy the two commands directly from your post and paste them in to the cmd window? or do I need to type them a certain way?

I've had the machine bluescreen twice in the past week, as well as randomly rebooting during Sleep at least once that I know of. I'm attaching the latest dump files. Could this be a sign that I need to reinstall the OS?
