Display 1 is the kind of thing I've seen with bad cards before; display 2 I don't know what to make of.

Are you sure you saw the same thing with the onboard card? Was the installed card disabled in the Device Manager or physically removed?

The only thing I can think of is that both "cards" may be using some portion of physical ram which may be reserved for it.

Have you tested that?

Also, I put DSL on a disk, but can't figure how to run from startup.

When you run msinfo32, under the file menu, there is a save button. Save it to a text file and post that file (or its contents) here.

Once you've properly burned DSL, you generally need to change your BIOS to move CD above Hard Drive in boot order. This may have already been done for you.

Ok, I removed my new video card, put in my old one. Still had the same issue.

Also, tried booting from the CD, and it said the drive wasn't accessible. I flashed my BIOS and still doesn't work.
