Unhappy non bootable windows
Hi, I have a problem(obviously, thats why im here) with the OS that does not boot up. I mean. The motherboard logo appears, then it just ask for boot disk, so I put in a bootable DVD and I just hit escape (the option that says boot from disc) and it boots windows. So the things is I need to boot Windows XP without the DVD. Does anyone has any idea

The computer has the followin specs:
Motherboard Foxconn P61PMX
1GB ram
AMD X2 4600+
80GB Hard drive
Partition 1 Primary: Windows
Partition 2 Logical: Files

BTW: Sound is not working too =(, Ive tried two sound drivers but non of them work. Any ideas?

The system is Windows XP SP2

Thanks in advanced, Arturo

Probably missing boot files.

Look in Control Panel > System. Press the Edit button on the Startup page and post the boot.ini here.

here is the boot.ini file

Code:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

OK. That looks all right.

Go to Folder Options in Control Panel and make hidden files unhidden.

Then download this zip file:

Boot Fix

Unzip it and copy ntldr and ntdetect.com from the "putonusb" subfolder to the root of your drive (probably C:\). It's OK to overwrite the ones that are there if it asks. Try to boot without your CD.
