A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If ths is your first time you,ve seen this stop error screen, restart you computer.(I have seen this message several times already!) If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. (Which I Do) If A driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacture for drive updates. Try changing video adapters.
Check with your Hardware vendoe for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable componets, restart your computer , Press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select safe mode.

The person in this solved the problem by replacing his ram. Try removing one of the modules and see if it works. If it doesn't, try reinstalling the one you just took out, and removing the other. (switch them out) Here is a KB article about this, too.
If that's not the problem, it could be the SATA drivers for the motherboard. You will need to go online and find them, possibly from the manufacturer's website.
See Microsoft's information.

AND/OR sata is not enabled correctly in your BIOS
so try these first OK
I had the same problem but it's been a year or so and it's a bit fuzzy. | | Senior Member with 879 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Boise, Idaho USA Experience: Advanced | | talkinggoat;

See Microsoft's information. | When you said it could be the SATA drivers for the motherboard. if it was how could I fix that since I have no OS in my 500GB Maxtor Hard Drive?
Here is a Update for my PC's BIOS is this what I would need?

#12 | Ok... we are hitting PCHardDrive with to much to fast Please Correct me if I'm wrong...
The problem as I see it, is your system WILL NOT and CAN NOT see your new hard-drive First and foremost... Do-Not up date your BIOS unless absolutely necessary... bad things can happen. PCHardDrive you need to go into the BIOS and make sure it is set to recognize, boot to and enable sata / raid...
until you confirm that it is set right your system will not see your NEW hard-drive...
You may have to research how to do this, using Google and your manual and HP's web site.
There are many different BIOS styles and types so with out sitting there and seeing it, it is very difficult to tell you how and what to do.
If you can not get past this, then we need more info;
Motherboard make and model.

#13 | I have a compaq presario sitting here that belongs to a client that I just fixed
to enter BIOS hit; F1
the BIOS is made by Phoenix-Award
click on the advanced tab and look for SATA1 Controller and make sure it is enabled... if it is not enabled then this is probably your problem...
If it IS enabled then this is not your problem... and got through the BIOS and start writing stuff down and then post the info and the way the settings are, back here so we can try and help. | | Junior Member with 10 posts. | | |

#15 | Yes I checked them.
your PC is not seeing you hard drive still and it's enabled in the BIOS
so that means there is a hardware connection issue, they are not seeing each other so you have to figure out where that is.
disconnect everything and reconnect and retry
then try another hard drive NOT sata, try an IDE drive and see if you have the same problem.
you can go to a local PC repair store and find smaller used HD's for cheap all day long try that as I am at the end of my knowledge
I have 40+ HD's sitting here for that very reason so try it and see.
**>>I bought a brand new HD last year and it was defective and would not let my PC see it,
took it back and exchanged for and exact match and has worked flawless since,
It doesn't happen often, but it does happen... And I would ONLY try the BIOS update when all else fails as it does not specifically include a fix for your exact problem
and BIOS updates can RUIN your system if one thing goes wrong
...>>> so if you do decide to do it, it is totally up to you and highly NOT recommended .
...>>> and make sure you backup everything that is important to you first... | THIS THREAD HAS EXPIRED.
