Go to threatexpert.com and search hypinit32.exe, they discuss this virus pretty good. a free anti virus AVG 8.0 caught a lot of it but could not fix the etc hosts file. also had to delete two directories nscan and spfx created by the virus in the system32 directory.

The virus replicates itself on thumb drives, the program is hidden on them, AVG caught it and ESET Enod32 did not.

Very nasty bug !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably your prinetr has a memory stick in it, the virus replicates itself to any memory stick, Thumb drive. Run AVG 8.0 to scan it.

Sorry - I should have warned all about these types of things. If you go too far back w/ the Sys Restore, it will bring back an 'image' of the system settings which does not have all of the recent Windows or AV Updates which most/many users have automatically added to their PC's, daily or weekly, or however you may have it configured.

I also went through that and had to "manually" add back in the missing updates - but that was a 'small price' to pay for getting rid of this annoying virus.

But I should have said that this process probably would be needed for most users.

But they are still coming up even after I deleted all the files I could

GRR itsn tnot working, ive deleted all th files it will let me delete (not the ones with wrnog values or something), I don't think I'm in safe mod, when do I press f8, im not very tech savvy.

no im not a stargate nerd, but like you im also not tech savvy either. I'm still getting the error message with my printer. I think there may be a memory chip in it like has been suggested. but I'm very confused ... can someone explain this in simple terms please as it seems im not the only one getting confused. things like "system restore" are foriegn terms to someone like me.

please help

I recently got this error message as well. now that I know its a virus, that can't be detected with AVG or symantec, then i'm just going to wipe my drive and start from scratch.

I would suggest all who get this, back up whatever you want to save onto CD's and just re-format your Hard drive.
