XP crashes with little horizontal lines
Every now and then, my computer just randomly crashes. When it does small horizontal lines appears on the monitor (see attached image) and the only way to fix it is to force the computer off by holding the power button on my laptop.

Currently I'm running Windows Media Center Edition XP Service Pack 3 on a HP Pavilion dv9074cl basically with all original factory hardware.

The only software that I've upgraded lately has been Nero 7.

Please help, this is getting a little ridiculous and happening more often.

I had a similar problem with my Acer laptop except I had vertical bars across the screen. Just remove Service Pack 3, you don't need it. SP3 doesn't affect desktops, I have an HP Media Center desktop with SP3 and no problems so far, it just seems to affect laptops for some reason.
