Issues with new installs of IE8 and Chrome
windows XP SP3 2 gigs ram plenty of space. 3.2ghz processor

Thank you for looking.

I installed IE8 beta 2 and seemed to go OK but no icon on desktop.
It will not start no matter which iexplore.exe I click on.

So I uninstalled and IE7 works ok..

then I installed chrome and again no icon on desktop and will not start. just a little flicker of the hourglass and nothing.

Went into safe mode and chrome started after installing icon on desktop.
but will not start in "normal"mode.

I couldn't see anything in msconfig that is causing the issue..

Any ideas of the next things to try

Thanks

Graham

Hello Grasor!

Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1

This version of Internet Explorer is unstable and harbors bugs and problems with the program. I have personally installed it before and the bugs were endless; some cool features but still...too many bugs. I would stick with Internet Explorer 7 until a stable version of IE 8 is released.

CCleaner is a good program for cleaning up temporary files and bad registry entries. Run the registry scanner on CCleaner by going to that tab, then analyze issues, and then fix all. Make sure you create the back up .reg file it asks you if you want to do in case something goes wrong.

For the Chrome Download.

Uninstall Google Chrome and try reinstalling. Remove the folder for it and everything in C:\Program Files on uninstall.

Uninstall IE 8 Beta through add/remove programs in the control panel. Then once removed use a third party internet browser to install IE 7.
