Cool M/S Outlook
Hi I use Outlook for my e.mail. Somehow my Personal folders have been duplicated. Now when I want to batch delete it wont let me. I presume this folder duplication is the reason. How do I delete one of these folders.

Hi lemuzz

Will the second Personal Folder close?

Right click on the Top/Root folder of the Personal Folders and select: Close

Check both Personal Folders, if Close is disabled.

Are you using a POP account or IMAP account?

M/S Outlook
Hi this is what I mean. Personal folders are shown duplicated. Both contain identical data. In my earlier post, I said I couldn't batch delete, but I have since done so. But the folder is still duplicated, and I would like it gone. Thanks for your help.

check view/layout and see if you can uncheck the one you don't want.

Does either Personal Folders give you the option to Close it?

Right click on the Top/Root folder of the Personal Folders and select: Close

If the option to Close the Personal Folders is disabled, Right click on each Personal Folders:
Properties > Advanced button
Look at the directory and filename for each Personal Folders are they the same or different?

File > Data File Management will also show the directory and filename of the Personal Folders.
What version of Outlook are you using, 2003 or 2007?

Data files only show 2 folders-- Archive Folders and Personal Folders.
Can't find an option to close Personal folders. Yes both folders are the same size. I'm using 2003

Just a wild guess here, but hit ALT+F1. This will close the Folder List
Exit Outlook - Reboot
Restart Outlook
Hit ALT+F1 to open the folder list.

This might force it to re-read the List of folders and clear the duplicate display out.

HTH

What version of Outlook are you using?

The Outlook Profile may be corrupted.

Create a new Profile for Outlook:
How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003

Let us know if that makes a difference or not.

Another option, that I have not tried:

Hi lemuzz

I see you posted and then removed the post.

With Outlook (version?) closed, you can set the Default Profile in the Control Panel:
Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles button
Select: Always Use this profile
Verify the correct Profile appears in the drop down field.
Apply, OK to save and close.

Would you be so kind as to give us the version of Outlook you are using?

Bingo. Yes I did remove the post. I created a new profile AND ran Ghost buster then re-booted. Problem solved I thought. But creating a new profile lost all my mail. Did a system restore then re-ran GhostBuster and all appears well problem appears solved Thanks for your help
