Unresponsive machine - Very High CPU Usage
I am facing a high CPU usage on my Compaq Presario from the last 2 days.

The system takes a long time to reboot.

The system becomes unresponsive very often.

The songs that i play on winamp or any other media players tend to skip like a corrupted CD.

Will somebody here help me solve this problem please? I am including my hijack log with this. THank you all very much.

EXCUSE MY ENGLISH PLEASE

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {1962c5bc-e475-465b-823b-133e711bceb9} - (no file)

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Did you set up the hosts file?

Can you post the specs of your Compaq Presario:

Model number?

Processor type and speed?

Amount of RAM?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Surprisingly, the O4 startup list in your computer looks very good, compared to the bloated startup lists that I normally have to deal with.

AVG8_TRAY and ctfmon.exe need to load and run.

Yahoo! Pager and msnmsgr do not, unless you specifically want them to.

You can go into their tools/options/preferences settings and disable them from loading and running, and then you can manually start them when you're ready to use them.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Click Start - Run, type in SERVICES.MSC and then click OK.

When the Services window opens and you've expanded it, double-click on:

ATI HotKey Poller

ATI Smart

InstallDriver Table Manager

Pml Driver HPZ12

Change the setting from "Automatic" to "Manual" and then click Apply. You have to do one at a time.

Close the Services window and then restart.

-------------------------------------------------------------

After you've completed the instructions in posts #2 and #3, post a new HijackThis log here.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Sir,

I am extremely sorry for my late reply. I was not in town for a few days.

Sir, the problem was that one of my drivers was running on the PIO mode. I searched the net and found some software which changed my driver to ULTRA DMA mode. The machine seems to be working fine now.

Sir, I have changed those 4 services to manual.

Sir, i did not set up those host files. I do use my bank account online but i do not know much about computers.

Sir, thank you very, very much for the reply. I was so happy that someone replied to my post.

May God bless you and your family.

Sir, please excuse my english

With Regards,
Ashish
