Question Disable RAM without removing?
Long time lurker, first time poster!

Seems Toshiba has the initial RAM 'built-in' to my M40X PSM4XC-RS100E. There's one available slot, which I've filled, but the RAM that came with the computer is inconveniently located under a metal shield which cannot be removed without disassembling the computer.

Another TechGuy poster had this issue when trying to install RAM, with pics:

Anyhoo, the built-in RAM has gone bad in one (small) series of addresses.

Because of this set-up, I'll either have to crack open the laptop myself (yoinks) or take it in for service, turning a $40 problem into a $100+ problem which will likely require a couple weeks of being in the shop.

The BIOS offers no option to disable the built-in RAM.

Does anyone know of a method I can use to disable either the bad addresses, or the entire stick to avoid the servicing?

XP Home...
