Angry Need help about computer restarting itself
Hello,

Hey I got this problem about the computer just restarts itself right before it even shows the "Welcome" screen, and never even reaches the desktop! I only see a black screen where in fact it should display the welcome screen, and it restarts! So far, currently I'm on Safe mode with networking. There were no error messages whatsoever but this all happened after I installed Comodo Internet Security and BitDefender 10. I doubt this is a overheating problem because it happens everytime I boot normally and I have 2 fans, 1 is a cpu fan and a fan behind the cpu.

My system is Intel Pentium IV, Windows XP (Service Pack 2), 364mb ram, 32GB hard-drive with 2 partitions. My video card is nVidia GeForce MX series. It's currently 4 years old.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Welcome to TSG!

It could be a conflict between the 2 programs you installed, or between one and the OS.
I would start by uninstalling one and seeing if it makes a difference.

Good luck!

Well, I did uninstall Comodo, but it doesn't make a difference. But for some reason, I can't uninstall BitDefender 10. Whenever I try to uninstall it in Safe Mode, it says something like "This works for products that are currently installed" or something. Should I manually delete the Program folder?

While you're in safe mode go to start > control panel > system > click the advanced tab and there click the startup and recovery button, on the newly opened window, you need to uncheck the Automatically restart line, like this: ">

Good luck, smartguy01

Hey, after I tried SmartGuy01's method (ABOVE), I encountered a new and rather peculiar situation. Instead of restarting, It showed a BLUE SCREEN(NOOO!!!) with this error message:

STOP: c10021a {Fatal System Error}
The windows Logon process terminated unexpectedly w/ a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

I hope I can get an immediate answer quick though. It look like as if my computer is wrecked 4 good. Thanks!

Not to worry... the settings Smartguy posted did not cause the blue screen. It only makes Windows stop at the blue screen instead of rebooting.

Look in C:\Windows\Minidump for files with a DMP extension. They are your crash dump logs. Zip 4-5 recent ones and post here as a ZIP or RAR attachment. We can review the logs and hopefully determine the cause of your blue screens.

When I checked to the Minidump folder, I didn't see any files w/ DMP extensions; there's not even a single file I can find! I hope I can find a way other than reformatting my computer that can fix this situation though. I like reformatted my old computer for nearly 4-6 times during the course of my computer's life, and I hate losing my files (gaming files and folders to be exact) and school-related documents all over again.

Thanks a bunch to all who are willing to help and thanks also to those who just helped me out. There may be still some hope for my situation LOL
