Exclamation Need Ethernet Driver!!
Hi.

I've got a desktop (pretty old)
I just got a new wireless internet router but i usually use the USB with my old one. However, this one doesn't have a USB port , only Ethernet. I plugged it in but nothing happens. I think I need the drivers for the ethernet port, if that exists?
I'm running Windows XP.

Help?

Becky:

A wireless router has 4 or more wired ports on the back of it so you can use a combination of wired and wireless connections, if you want to.

Since your old desktop has an ethernet adaptor and uses a wired connection, it needs to have the driver for it installed for it to work properly and get a connection.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Right-click MY COMPUTER, then click Properties - Hardware - Device Manager. When the Device Manager window opens, click the + in Network Adaptors. What is the description listed for the wired ethernet adaptor? Is the an X or exclamation mark or question mark next to the entry?

------------------------------------------------------------------

What is the brand name, model name, and model number of that desktop?

What version of Windows is running in it?

There are Routers, then there are Broadband Modems, did you replace your Modem with a Router??

Post the brand and model of the old unit along with the brand and model of the new one, please.
