Solved: XP System Re-instal: NO INTERNET OR SOUND
Hi. After reinstalling XP SP2 Home Edition onto my Gateway 524GB Desktop PC, I have been left without sound or internet. The Device Manager shows Yellow ?'s in "OTHER DEVICES"
  1. Ethernet Controller
  2. PCI Device
  3. Video Controller
There was no problem with sound or internet connection (using yellow ethernet cable) before. I've tried over & over to install XP but the same three items are missing from the the Gateway CD. Gateway, were VERY un helpful........seems they only have one Driver to offer: PCI SoftV92 Data Fax Modem with SmartCP Modem Driver...........this had no effect. It seems my aging 3 year old PC is not worthy of their attention. I've only ever bought Gateway.........but they've just lost a future sale!

Does anyone know where I can download drivers or anything to get the old thing running again?

I have a laptop that runs off the same "SkyBroadband Router/modem" without problem (Obviously or I wouldn't be posting this question) so I think the problem is drivers!!!!

HELP?

Lee B

Hi Browner_lee, and welcome to TSG.

Did you try searching the Gateway site for downloads based on your computer's serial number:

As cwwozniak suggested, all the drivers for your PC model are right here.
